Set in the heart of the city, St. Regis Bangkok is enveloped by timeless tradition and impeccable luxury. Boasting unparalleled service, fantastic culinary choices and one of the most comprehensive fitness centers I’ve ever witnessed, this property in downtown Bangkok delivers on every level.

I hadn’t originally planned on staying at this beautiful hotel, but because of last-minute changes to travel plans, I found myself standing at the grand entrance one evening. No matter how much we prepare, sometimes fate has different plans for us, right? Fortunately, I couldn’t be happier with how things worked out.

I stayed at the St. Regis Bangkok for two nights and paid for my stay in full. And let me tell you, my experience was worth every penny.

About the Hotel

Continuing on from the St. Regis heritage that began in New York in 1904, the St. Regis Bangkok is an opulent 5 star hotel that has it all. Located in the center of downtown Bangkok within easy access to prime shopping destinations and must-visit attractions, the hotel is perfectly positioned for a city break.

To make navigating the city as easy as possible, the hotel provides guests with a direct BTS skytrain connection link to the station via the skybridge. This is super convenient and makes travel so much simpler, especially after a long day sightseeing.

Combining timeless traditions and modern elegance with iconic Thai family values, the St. Regis Bangkok offers a level of elegance many other hotels in the city struggle to compete with.

First Impressions

From the moment I arrived at St. Regis Bangkok I was greeted with warm, friendly smiles and my luggage was taken care of. The entrance was really impressive with glass walls and beautiful high ceilings. Because of the stunning decor, I felt a little underdressed when I arrived. But the staff were so welcoming that those feelings quickly disappeared.

I was escorted to the 12th floor to make a reservation, as I hadn’t been able to book in advance. Thankfully, there were rooms still available and I was able to stay straight away.

I arrived at the hotel pretty late — after 11pm. Just before I went to my room, the reservation manager asked if I would like the butler to draw me a bubble bath. Absolutely! I couldn’t think of a better way to settle in at this time of night. At this point I already knew I was in for a wonderful stay.

Accommodation

There’s a great range of accommodation at the St. Regis Bangkok, and with every room steeped in timeless elegance, you can never make a bad choice. Depending on the type of room you choose, you’ll either have a fascinating view of the city or a beautiful view of the nearby golf course and racetrack. You can choose your view when you book, which is really handy.

I stayed in the Deluxe Guest Room which had stunning floor-to-ceiling windows. I absolutely love natural light filling my living space, so I was totally in my element here. The décor was a gorgeous mix of brown, white and beige. The colors complemented each other beautifully and really gave a sense of sophistication which fit in with the hotel perfectly.

The signature St. Regis king bed with 300-thread count linens filled the room and provided the ideal spot for a wonderful night’s rest. There was also a large closet space with more than enough room for my things and a comfy couch where I spent many hours curled up with a book.

You know I always work when I’m traveling and my room was ideal for working remotely. There was a spacious desk for my laptop, plenty of outlets to charge my devices and excellent WiFi, plus a fabulous 55” LED TV for when I needed to take a break.

The bathroom was truly spectacular, too. It had a full standalone bath — yesssss! I love taking baths so this was perfect for me. Every evening, my butler would draw me a hot bath and bring me some tea along with delish chocolate chip cookies.

For the ultimate luxurious experience, there were also dual marble sinks, a rain shower and plush bathrobe and slippers set. You know how much I love lounging in a robe and slippers when I’m away. I was so comfy and cozy!

Swimming Pool

Far enough away from the city to enjoy pure tranquility, but close enough to see the striking city skyline and gardens, the St. Regis Bangkok pool is the perfect place to relax. There’s loads of seating around the pool, so you’ll never struggle to find a spot, no matter how busy the hotel is.

I was really glad of the huge comfy chairs protected by a covered ceiling. It rained for most of my stay, but because of this sheltered area, I was still able to sit and chill out by the pool without getting soaked.

If you get hungry or thirsty while hanging out by the pool, you don’t have to go very far — the Pool Bar has everything you could need. Here you’ll find all kinds of healthy eats, including sandwiches, salads, burgers and Asian classics, all served up with delicious smoothies and mocktails.

Food

VIU

VIU is the St. Regis Bangkok’s main restaurant, open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and located on the 12th floor next to the Sky Lobby. I enjoyed a fantastic breakfast here and there were endless choices on the menu.

As I was feeling a little homesick, I went with the classic American breakfast of eggs, toast, grilled tomatoes, hash browns, sausage, fruit, juice, and tea.

This restaurant is also a major brunch buffet hotspot. For brunch you’ll find:

st_regis_breakfast_2.jpg

●      Yogurt
●      Fruit
●      Fresh juice
●      Coconuts
●      Cheeses
●      Meats
●      Salad bar
●      Pastries
●     Traditional Thai dishes
●      Dumplings
●      Quinoa porridge
●      Sticky coconut rice
●      Pork belly and egg
●     Thai omelet with pork
●      ...and more!

I tried the French toast with mango and passion fruit, as well as the green poached egg — a poached organic egg topped with green goddess sauce. Every single bite was delicious.

Other dining venues

Despite the incredible variety available at VIU, the St. Regis Bangkok spoils its guests with even more dining venues to choose from. There’s authentic Japanese fine dining at Zuma, sharing plates at IGNIV Bangkok, afternoon tea at the Drawing room, and healthy salads at the Pool Bar. For drinks, there’s the Decanter wine bar, plus signature coffee cocktails at the Lounge and the St. Regis Bar.

Room Service

I indulged and treated myself to room service once during my visit. Because I’m such a huge fan of Mexican food, I ordered a plate of nachos. They were great, but I was a bit surprised with the presentation — they were more like deconstructed nachos. The chips, salsa, sour cream, and guacamole were all in separate bowls. It was delicious, but a very different take on the nachos I grew up with.

Afternoon Tea Indulgence

The St. Regis Bangkok is well known for its afternoon tea and it’s easy to see why. Although I didn’t experience it myself, I did see others enjoying it and it looked spectacular. Held in the Drawing Room and St. Regis Bar, afternoon tea is presented on a stunning multi-level tray and consists of an exquisite selection of sweet and savory nibbles, along with a pot of tea or coffee.

Spa

The St. Regis Bangkok spa is an incredible place to escape the hustle and bustle of the city. Here you can indulge in a rejuvenating sensory experience with a full spa menu made up of indulgent beauty and wellness treatments enhanced with quality ELEMIS products. The treatments are supported by science, inspired by nature and carried out in gorgeous environs that reflect a harmonious balance of innovation and tradition.

There are 16 treatment rooms within the spa, including a hammam, massage therapy rooms, consultation rooms and even a closed colonic hydrotherapy suite. Male and female relaxation areas are also present, each with steam rooms, Jacuzzis, cold plunge pools and experience showers. There are also suspended relaxation pods that float high above the wet area below.

Gym

Next to the pool you’ll find the gym that’s open 24/7. This gym is almost too amazing to describe. It really is the gym of my dreams for so many reasons. Not only is it spacious, but it has everything you could ever possibly need to have an amazing workout, including a Thai boxing ring with skilled instructors.

Inside you’ll find:

●      Cardio machines
●     Rowing machines
●      Elliptical machines
●      Cable machine
●      Free weights
●      TRX
●      Medicine balls
●      Swiss balls
●      Kettlebells
●      Yoga mats
●      Bosu
●      Foam rollers

If you enjoy group workouts, you’ll be pleased to know they offer free fitness classes. But if you prefer something more private, you’ll love their one-on-one training sessions.

Amazing Service

The service at the St. Regis Bangkok is truly phenomenal. From the very first day I arrived, every member of staff greeted me by my name and went out of their way to make sure I was comfortable and having a good time.

It really felt like nothing was too much trouble. One evening it started to rain when I was heading out of the hotel for dinner. Before even a drop of water had the chance to hit my head, a staff member approached me with a rain jacket I could use to keep dry.

Because of last-minute changes, I hadn’t had time to book another hotel and I had nowhere to go when I was leaving the St. Regis Bangkok. To help take the pressure off, I asked reception if late checkout was available. Not only were they happy to oblige, but they said I could leave whenever I wanted. This made me feel like they really cared and it gave me plenty of time to get my accommodation sorted.

A treasured hallmark of the St. Regis Bangkok experience is their 24-hour butler service available in every guestroom. When you arrive at the hotel, the butler carefully unpacks your things and puts them away.

The butler is also a huge help when it comes to moving on to your next destination. They will gently pack all your luggage back into your case for you. As much as I adore traveling, I don’t enjoy packing or unpacking. This much-appreciated service gave me the chance to relax and unwind instead of worrying about luggage.

The St. Regis Bangkok’s butler service extends well beyond packing and unpacking luggage. They also come into your room after your morning wake-up call to open your shades and deliver your favorite tea or coffee along with your morning newspaper. To make sure you always look your best, your butler will also press two garments of clothing per person per day.

Time to Plan Your Visit

From the moment you arrive until the moment you leave, the St. Regis Bangkok is all about pure indulgence. Much more than impressive architecture, captivating artwork and gourmet food, this sophisticated hotel transforms opulence into a feeling that’s present throughout the hotel. If you’re looking for a place to indulge in a luxurious getaway for unashamed pampering, this is it.

If you’re imagining yourself being whisked away to the St. Regis Bangkok, what do you think your favorite part would be? Would you love the personalized attention? Amazing standalone bathtub? The impeccable butler service? Tell me in the comments— I want to know!

Earn Points

As the St. Regis Bangkok forms part of the Marriott hotel group, it falls under their rewards program, Marriott Bonvoy. This means you can earn Bonvoy points for each night you spend there. Equally, if you’ve collected enough Bonvoy points, you can enjoy free nights at the hotel.

Even if you’ve never stayed at a Marriott hotel, I definitely recommend you sign up for the loyalty program and download the Marriott Bonvoy app. When you arrive at the St. Regis Bangkok, you’ll enjoy exclusive benefits and can make requests directly through the app. It’s so much quicker and easier than calling down to reception.
